Know Your Schools - Thanksgiving/November 2025

Roxbury students use colorful turkeys to learn sight words

This month's edition of Know Your Schools is overflowing with heartwarming stories of gratitude, giving and community connection from across our district.

We filled the pages with coverage of how Solon students celebrated Thanksgiving – from Key Club's incredible food drive collecting more than 1,800 items and $7,000 for local families, to Turkey Bowls at Parkside and Orchard, to Solon Middle School students preparing a homemade feast, and so much more. You'll see students expressing gratitude in countless creative ways, from Parkside's "Feathers of Gratitude" and balloon parade just like Macy's on Thanksgiving Day to Roxbury readers building vocabulary with turkeys.

Beyond Thanksgiving, this issue highlights remarkable student achievements including first place at Kent State Math Day, NCAA signing day for five Solon athletes, Veterans Day commemorations, and beautiful student artwork making historical connections. We're also featuring our popular Finance Facts column explaining school budget categories, stories about parent volunteers supporting student recognition programs, and mindfulness techniques for managing stress.

Don't miss the fun moments too – Lewis students requesting Brussels sprouts (!), Regano ELC's fall celebrations, preschool yoga adventures, whipped cream philanthropy at the high school, and an invitation to test drive a school bus on December 6!

Grab a cup of cocoa and enjoy this season of giving, gratitude and Comet pride.
